Modules

1. Public Speaking Foundations

Develop the skills you need to prepare and deliver an outstanding speech or presentation. In this course, Laura Bergells offers practical insights that can help presenters prepare, open, deliver, and close their speeches. Along the way, discover how to project confidence, outline a speech, take questions, and develop the creative story that adds life to a speech.

2. Establishing Credibility as a Speaker

Audiences will assess the credibility of presenters before they even begin speaking. In this course, Laura Bergells shares techniques that help speakers develop personal credibility. She shows you how to earn the attention and interest of your audience right away by using key nonverbal and emotional skills. Find out how to make eye contact, read a room, and deal with difficult audience emotions. Learn how to state your credentials—without sounding like you're bragging. Plus, discover how to apply your credibility skills to both small and large audiences.

3. Creating and Giving Business Presentations

What makes a compelling presentation? A presentation that is built on strong research, tailored to your audience's interests, and designed to anticipate and answer questions about your message. In this course, Kelley Business School professor Tatiana Kolovou teaches you how to prepare strong business presentations. Learn how to find your story, appeal to logic and emotion, gain credibility, build a deck, and deliver a compelling presentation. Along the way, follow Katie, a young professional, as she prepares to give a presentation to the executives at her organization.

4. How to Present and Stay on Point

Join master presenter Todd Dewett as he outlines the basic elements of delivering a great presentation and staying on message. Todd discusses the "pre-work" involved in a great presentation so that you feel—and are—well prepared. He also delivers tips on creating handouts and slides that contain just the right amount of information, responding to your audience, and recovering from the occasional mistake.

5. Designing a Presentation

Perhaps the most essential skill for all knowledge workers, sales professionals, business owners, and educators is the ability to design compelling presentations. Whether you’re reporting performance metrics, delivering a training, or pitching a big idea, you need a presentation to support you and illuminate your speech. In this course, designer Tony Harmer takes you through the essentials of presentation design to give you the tools you'll find most useful in thinking about, designing, and building successful presentations. Tony covers a variety of key topics, including moodboards, outlines, layout, type and text, color considerations, graphics, video, charts, transitions, and animations. He concludes with some useful advice on finishing touches and follow-ups for your presentation.

6. Design a Compelling Presentation

Learn the basic rules for achieving a balanced, professional, attractive, and compelling presentation, in Design 101. John McWade covers design essentials in way that won't get you bogged down in the details or feel overwhelmed. This course is perfect for people new to design and nondesigners tasked with putting together a presentation—those who just don't know how to make a design stand out or how to go beyond the templates in PowerPoint or Keynote. John offers expert advice on typography, color, consistency, using images, keeping it simple, and more. Good presentations take time and thought. Design is too important to leave to a computer! Use these techniques to make personalized, thoughtful presentations that both educate and inspire.

7. PowerPoint: Silicon Valley Presentation Secrets

Learn how to take your PowerPoint decks to the next level. In this course, presentation guru Jole Simmons reveals the slide design techniques used by pro-level presentation designers at cutting-edge Silicon Valley companies. Jole begins with a primer on the essential elements of a strong presentation, as well as an explanation of why presentation design is so popular in big tech. Next, he launches into a number of different techniques you can use to create eye-catching, compelling slides. Learn how to craft custom shapes in PowerPoint, create a scrolling feed, use the PowerPoint Morph feature to create continuity through an intro sequence; add cool animations; and more.
