Doctor of Ministry

Overview

The Doctor of Ministry (DMin) program is a 36-credit hour advanced professional degree designed for those who aspire to excel at the highest level in the practice of ministry. The curriculum provides ministry leaders with a biblically based philosophy and strategy that will enable them to maximize their effectiveness in ministry.


Degree Requirements

  • The maximum time limit to complete the program is five years
  • Completion of the prescribed courses (including transfer) with a minimum overall GPA of 3.00 and at least a B- in each course
  • Transfer credits may not exceed 50% of the degree requirements. Courses transferred must have received no lower than a B-
  • Advanced Standing of six hours is available for applicants with a master’s degree of 36 or more hours.

Objectives

  • Demonstrate competence in assessing and analyzing the effectiveness of a ministry to meet the determined biblical goals
  • Develop a strategy to initiate and lead a growing ministry in contemporary culture
  • Demonstrate skill in high-level applied biblical research in a significant area of ministry which is presented in a professional format
  • Chart a course for lifelong learning and ministry development

Admissions Requirements

  • Completed application with Carolina University
  • Submission of transcripts from schools previously attended
  • Master’s degree in bible, theology, or ministry from an accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 3.00
  • Applicants with a master’s degree of 36 or more hours, will receive six hours of advanced standing
  • Written statement that includes salvation testimony, call to the ministry, and reason for entering the DMin program
  • Two letters of recommendation, including one from current pastor, member of pastoral staff, church board, etc., where the applicant is currently serving
  • Read and sign the Piedmont Divinity School’s Student Doctrinal Statement and Standards of Behavior Statement
  • Read and agree to respect the Teaching Perspective Statement of the Piedmont Divinity School faculty
