Program Overview

The Public Policy Administration (MPPA) program provides students with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to work as effective and ethical public and nonprofit administrators. The program is designed to prepare students for a wide range of careers in government, nonprofit organizations, and the private sector.


Program Objectives

  • To provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the policymaking process at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • To develop students' skills in policy analysis, research, writing, and communication.
  • To equip students with the knowledge and skills to manage public and nonprofit organizations effectively.
  • To prepare students to be ethical and responsible leaders in the public service sector.

Program Format

The MPPA program is a full-time, two-year program. The program consists of 40 credit hours, 25 of which are taken as part of the core curriculum and 15 that are electives. Students can choose to focus their studies in one of three emphasis areas:

  • Policy Research and Analysis
  • Local Government Management
  • Nonprofit Organization Management
  • Students can also choose to create an individualized emphasis area in consultation with their advisor.
