Bachelor of Communication

The Bachelor of Communication is a program designed for students who are curious, enjoy telling stories, and want to use media to share ideas about the things that get people talking. This program will give students the professional skills and knowledge to build a career in communication.


Program Overview

The program is available full-time over three years, with part-time options also available. Students can choose to major in Journalism, Advertising, Public Relations, or Screen Media, and develop job-ready skills in communication, digital media, media production, research, and innovation.


Majors

  • Advertising: gives students a thorough grounding in general principles of communication as well as practical skills in advertising.
  • Journalism: combines an understanding of how the news media work with practical experience in broadcast, print, and online journalism.
  • Screen Media: provides students with production skills, complete with practical hands-on experience, together with a theoretical foundation in the moving, visual media.
  • Public Relations: covers the skills and knowledge required in the profession of public relations, including event management, issues and crisis management, and campaign development.

The Bachelor of Communication is accredited by professional organizations, including the Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA) and the Media Federation of Australia (MFA).
