Economics Business Program
The Economics Business program is a comprehensive undergraduate degree that focuses on the study of choices made by individuals, businesses, and government entities when allocating limited resources. This program is designed to provide students with a deep understanding of economic principles, theories, and practices, as well as the skills necessary to succeed in a variety of careers.
Program Overview
The Economics Business program is offered through the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University. The program leads to a Bachelor of Science degree and is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in economics, business, and liberal arts.
Curriculum
The curriculum for the Economics Business program includes a combination of principles courses, core courses, and required major courses. The principles courses include:

The required major courses include:
- Intermediate Microeconomics
- Intermediate Macroeconomics
- Selected upper-division courses in economics
Additional electives are required to total a minimum of 121 hours for graduation. Oral and written communication courses and additional computer science courses are recommended.
Study Abroad
The Office of Global Business provides Fisher students with a variety of options to study abroad, where they can apply classroom theories in compelling international locations and learn through experience. Employers value the diverse background that global experiences provide, and list "strategic international understanding" and "cross-cultural experience" as two of the most desirable employee traits.
Internship
Though internships are not required for business students, 95 percent of students registered with the Office of Career Management have some kind of internship experience before they graduate. Many students receive an offer of full-time employment from their internship employer.
Honors and Scholars
Honors students majoring in business have the option of applying for and participating in one of four Honors programs or an Honors research project. Each option provides the opportunity to graduate with a diploma designation. The Business Scholars Program is a community of talented students that participate in programs and activities designed to offer insight into business practice and environment.
Student Organizations
The Undergraduate Leadership & Engagement Office connects Fisher students with opportunities to enhance leadership competencies, develop professional preparedness, and connect with their chosen industry and the Fisher community. Additionally, Fisher is home to more than 35 student organizations that focus on academics, diversity, common business topics, and more.
Possible Careers
Economics majors are successful in a wide variety of careers, including banking, insurance industry, consulting, law, medicine, government, nonprofits, international relations, and academic roles. Most economics majors pursue employment in the private sector, and graduates succeed in many occupations. Some students also plan to pursue graduate work.

The starting salary averaged $50,608 for graduates who majored in economics.
Program Objectives
At graduation, Fisher College of Business graduates will possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, demonstrate in-depth knowledge of human resources, possess a global perspective, be able to identify and assess ethical issues surrounding business decisions, work effectively in a team-based environment, and demonstrate professional deportment and effective oral and written communication skills.
