The Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Leadership and Innovation is designed for healthcare professionals seeking to enhance their marketability, further their education, and become experts in innovation and leadership within the healthcare industry. This certificate program is ideal for those in interprofessional team roles who wish to gain the ability to implement strategies in complex adaptive systems, cultivating leadership and innovation initiatives.
Program Overview
Upon completion of this certificate program, students will be prepared to:
- Systematically apply understanding of evidence-based leadership and innovation theories and principles to leading and evaluating change initiatives in complex, rapidly changing healthcare environments.
- Implement coaching and mentoring programs for healthcare team members, including train-the-trainer approaches.
- Lead interprofessional healthcare teams in a variety of settings with an overall emphasis on implementing innovative solutions to persistent healthcare system problems.
Program Structure
The Healthcare Leadership and Innovation certificate admits students each summer semester and consists of 12 credit hours (four courses) offered completely online. The program is designed to be completed in as little as two semesters. Notably, three of the four classes required for this certificate are included in the existing College of Nursing Master of Healthcare Innovation (MHI) program, allowing students to transfer two courses from the certificate into the masters program if they choose to continue their education.
Admission
Admission to the certificate program occurs every summer semester. Applicants are strongly encouraged to ensure that their program of interest is available in their home state by visiting the Universitys Online Programs State Authorization webpage. The College and University are actively pursuing authorization in all 50 states.
