Mechanical Engineering Doctor of Philosophy

About the Program

The Mechanical Engineering Doctor of Philosophy program at Ohio State University provides diverse opportunities for graduate studies in all areas of mechanical engineering. The faculty, students, and researchers work together to solve some of societys most pressing challenges. The program focuses on multidisciplinary, collaborative research with faculty in other departments in the College of Engineering and in colleges at The Ohio State University, including the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Medicine.


Research Areas

Students in the program are exploring various research areas, including:


  • The treatment of human movement disorders
  • Developing novel approaches to supplying electrical energy
  • Investigating complex combustion and fluid mechanics processes

Optional Practical Training (OPT)

International graduates of this major are eligible to apply for up to three years of work permission in the United States after graduation.
