Bachelor of Science in Histotechnology
Program Overview
Introduction to the Bachelor of Science in Histotechnology
The University of Mississippi offers a 2+2 program in Histotechnology, which is not completed at the UM-Oxford campus. Traditionally, UM students complete two years of coursework before applying to the University of Mississippi Medical Center's Bachelor of Science in Histotechnology program in Jackson, MS. Acceptance to the final two years of this program is competitive, and class size is limited.
About the Program
While at UM, students are enrolled in the Allied Health Studies major with a histotechnology emphasis. They are assigned an academic counselor who ensures they have the prerequisite courses needed to apply to a school of their choice. Pre-requisite requirements are determined by the histotechnology schools of interest. The office provides tutoring, application assistance, mock interviews to prepare for actual interviews, and help with locating schools based on the student's criteria.
The Value of an Allied Health Studies Degree
Allied Health Studies majors gain the ability to understand human behavior, communicate complex ideas, think critically, interpret data, and engage with a diverse world. These skills prepare majors to enter any allied health profession and become leaders of the future.
