Program Overview


Program Overview

The University of Mississippi offers a Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences, a 2+4 year program that provides students with the foundation for a future in pharmacy. The program is designed to prepare students for admission into the professional pharmacy degree program.


Program Structure

The program consists of two years of undergraduate coursework, followed by four years of professional school. Students who complete the first two years of the pre-pharmacy curriculum and are accepted into the PharmD program will receive their Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences as a milestone degree.


Admission Requirements

To be considered for the Early Entry Program, students must:


  • Attend an Ole Miss Admitted Student Day, during which Early Entry Pharmacy interviews will be conducted
  • Declare Pharmaceutical Sciences as their major
  • Earn a 24 or higher on the ACT (math section) or equivalent SAT math score by May 1
  • Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Take all required science courses in person at the University of Mississippi
  • Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA and earn at least a grade of C in all required coursework

Early Entry Program

The Early Entry Program offers highly qualified high school seniors prioritized seats in the professional pharmacy program upon completion of pre-pharmacy coursework. Students in the Early Entry Program must:


  • Take all science courses in person at the University of Mississippi
  • Achieve at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA on non-elective courses by the end of EE1 spring, and maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA on all non-elective courses attempted by the end of the EE2 year
  • Receive no semester grades below C in any courses
  • Complete all required courses by the end of the Spring semester of EE 2 years

Research Opportunities

School of Pharmacy students have the opportunity to participate in research projects in conjunction with members of the school's accomplished faculty.


Study Abroad

Pharmacy students may choose to take advantage of the Study Abroad program, traveling to various destinations.


Community Engagement

The School of Pharmacy provides ample opportunities for students to engage with the community, such as providing flu shots through Operation Immunization or participation in local community education events.


Leadership

The School of Pharmacy offers students many different platforms to serve as leaders within the school, campus, or even on the national level.
