Master of Taxation Program
The Master of Taxation (MTax) program is designed to provide graduate-level accounting education with a specialization in taxation. The program allows students to tailor their studies to their interests and career goals.
About the Master of Taxation
The MTax program requires students to complete five required accountancy and taxation courses, two taxation electives, two accountancy electives, and one general elective. Students can choose from a variety of elective courses to customize their program.

Admission Requirements
To be admitted to the MTax program, students must meet the following requirements:
- Full-Standing Admission:
- Minimum 3.0 undergraduate GPA
- Completion of required undergraduate courses with minimum grades
- Minimum 445 GMAT score (if not eligible for a GMAT waiver)
- English language proficiency exam requirements (for international students)
- Required Undergraduate Courses:
- University of Mississippi accounting majors: minimum grades of C in ACCY 401 and ACCY 405
- Accounting majors from other institutions with separate accounting accreditation by AACSB International: minimum grades of C in undergraduate auditing and tax courses equivalent to ACCY 401 and ACCY 405
- Accounting majors in programs without separate accounting accreditation by AACSB and applicants who majored in a field of study other than accounting: completion of specific undergraduate courses with minimum grades
GMAT Requirements
- The GMAT requirement is waived for Patterson School accounting majors with an overall or resident GPA of 3.0 or higher and undergraduate accounting majors with an overall GPA of 3.5 or higher from other AACSB-accredited institutions.
- The GMAT is required for all students who wish to be considered for a PSOA graduate assistantship.

Financial Aid
Financial aid for MTax students includes graduate assistantships and graduate student loans.
- PSOA Graduate Assistantships: The PSOA awards approximately 50 graduate assistantships each year for fall and spring semesters.
- Graduate assistants perform 10 hours of service to the PSOA per week
- Receive a partial tuition scholarship, a 100% non-resident fee scholarship, and a semesterly stipend of $3,250
- Other Graduate Assistantships: Graduate assistantships are available in other units on campus, with varying application processes and eligibility requirements.
