Overview of the Bachelor of Commerce (Co-op) Program

The Bachelor of Commerce (Co-op) is a four-year program that combines academic studies with industry experience, professional mentoring, and leadership development. This program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in commerce, as well as practical skills and experience in their chosen field.

Program Structure

The program consists of 26 courses and three industry placements, worth 192 Units of Credit (UOC). The structure includes:

Admission Requirements

To be eligible for the program, students must meet the required ATAR (or equivalent) and apply directly with the UNSW Co-op Program, which involves responding to a questionnaire and sitting for an interview.

English Language Requirements

Students may be asked to provide evidence of their English proficiency to study at UNSW, depending on their educational background and citizenship. English language skills are essential for coping with lectures, tutorials, assignments, and examinations.

Fees and Scholarships

The indicative first-year full fee for the program is $17,500, and the indicative full fee to complete the degree is $67,000. The Co-op Program is a scholarship that is open to high-achieving high school leavers, with a value of $19,600 per year for four years.

Accreditation

The Bachelor of Commerce (Co-op) can provide professional recognition and accreditation in industry governing bodies, depending on the chosen major. The program is a CFA affiliated program (for the finance major) and may allow students to gain exemptions from certain requirements with ACCA, CIMA, and IPA (for the accounting major).

Double Degrees

While it is unusual to study a double degree while participating in the Co-op program, it is not impossible. Students must demonstrate strong academic achievement, fulfill all Co-op requirements, and obtain approval from their sponsors.

How to Apply

Domestic students must apply through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) and directly with the UNSW Co-op Program. The Co-op Program application includes a questionnaire and interview, and successful applicants will be awarded a Co-op scholarship, making them eligible for the degree.
