Master of Finance

Entry Requirements

The Master of Finance has two entry points, which require varying qualifications.


Pathway 1 | Two-year Program

  • A bachelors degree in any field with a credit average (65% or higher) as determined by the UNSW Postgraduate Coursework Entry Calculator.

Pathway 2 | One-year Accelerated Program

  • A recognised bachelors degree (or equivalent qualification) with a credit average (65% or higher) as determined by the UNSW Postgraduate Coursework Entry Calculator; and
  • A major (at least seven courses) in finance within the bachelors degree.

Recognition of Prior Learning

If you've successfully completed the CFA program by passing all three levels of CFA exam, you may be granted exemption for 12 UOC.


English Language Requirements

You may be asked to provide evidence of your English proficiency to study at UNSW depending on your educational background and citizenship. English language skills are vitally important for coping with lectures, tutorials, assignments, and examinations.


Program Structure

This program provides the skills and experience you need to tailor your qualification to your career goals.


  • Students who joined the program through Pathway 1 must finish the Stage 1 courses before moving on to Stage 2 courses.
  • Students commencing from Pathway 2 dont have to complete Stage 1 courses and can immediately move on to Stage 2.

Full Program Structure

At UNSW, each university year has three terms and an optional summer study period. Full-time students can typically fit two or three courses in one term and one course in the summer term.


Stage 1 | 48 units of credit (UOC)

Stage 2 | 48 units of credit (UOC)
