The Master of Global Health is a postgraduate degree that equips students with the knowledge and skills required to overcome complex population health issues in global settings. The program is designed to prepare students for a rewarding career in global health, where they can lead and work with people from diverse backgrounds.
Program Overview
The Master of Global Health is a one-year full-time or two-year part-time program that consists of eight courses, including four core courses and four elective courses. The program takes an interdisciplinary approach to global health education, with an underpinning in public health. It examines disease control, comparative analysis of global health systems, health promotion, health policy, power and politics in global health, key global health debates and philosophy, and issues around globalization and health, decolonization, health and human rights, the environment, urban expansion, and population growth.

- Research extension options: The Master of Global Health (Extension) gives students the opportunity to extend their knowledge and skills in global health research through additional research methodology courses and/or an advanced research project.
- Dual degree options: Students can combine the Master of Global Health with other master's programs, such as health leadership and management, public health, or infectious diseases intelligence, to enhance their career prospects.
- Industry-relevant program: The program is designed to be relevant to the workplace, with many opportunities to apply theoretical knowledge to practice, including an internship program that provides practical experience in relevant health organizations.

Entry Requirements
There are two pathways for entry and a third exceptional pathway:
- Pathway 1: Applicants must have a three-year undergraduate degree in any field of study and two years of full-time professional or volunteer experience in a relevant field.
- Pathway 2: Applicants must have an undergraduate degree plus an honors in a relevant field of study or a postgraduate degree in a relevant field of study.
- Pathway 3: In exceptional circumstances, applications will be considered for entry when applicants have extensive professional health or public health experience but do not hold a relevant degree qualification.

Professional or Volunteer Experience
Relevant professional experience includes roles in health, health service provision or health management, and roles that involve working specifically on health-related activities or portfolios.
English Language Requirements
Applicants may be asked to provide evidence of their English proficiency to study at UNSW, depending on their educational background and citizenship. English language skills are vitally important for coping with lectures, tutorials, assignments, and examinations.
Program Structure
The Master of Global Health can be completed in one year of full-time study or two years part-time. The program consists of eight courses, including four core courses and four elective courses. Core courses include:
- Health Promotion and Social Perspectives of Health
- Global Health and Development
- Foundations of Epidemiology
- Foundations of Biostatistics
Elective courses are available, and students can choose to extend their Master of Global Health degree or combine it with another degree.
Future Careers
There is strong demand for global health professionals in the public and private health sectors, both within Australia and internationally. Graduates typically find work through a range of employers, including bilateral and multilateral international aid organizations, UN-based organizations, civil society, and NGOs.
Fees and Scholarships
The program offers Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP) and full-fee places. The indicative first-year fee for CSP is $10,000, and the indicative fee to complete the degree is $10,000. The indicative first-year full fee is $60,500, and the indicative full fee to complete the degree is $61,500. Scholarships are available, and students can explore these opportunities through the university's scholarship program.
