The Bachelor of Arts in Music & an Outside Field is a program designed for students wanting to pursue music alongside another field of study. This program allows students to invest in their musical talent while chasing their dreams through other programs such as pre-law, pre-health, or arts administration. Students can earn multiple degrees in one four-year college experience.

Students will have the opportunity to earn a second bachelor's degree with experience in the liberal arts, humanities, and sciences. What You Will Learn

The Dr. Grier Williams School of Music faculty specialize in a wide array of research areas, including:

• Instrumental and vocal solo performance
• Instrumental and choral conducting

• K-12 music education methods and pedagogy Students will gain skills in solo and ensemble performing, conducting, music literature, music history, and vocal and piano pedagogy. The program offers the opportunity to master the creativity and discipline required to complete a music degree while preparing for employment in various disciplines, including music, the humanities, education, health, and STEM fields.

Admissions Requirements

Admittance to the program is by audition only. In addition to the course requirements, the Dr. Grier Williams School of Music requires:

• Every student enrolled in applied lessons must participate in a major ensemble sponsored by the department.
• All majors must participate in the weekly student recital performance classes and perform as recommended by their applied professor.
• All majors must attend a designated number of concerts and/or recitals each semester in residence.
• A minimum grade of "C-" in all major courses.
• All students must pass the UWF Music Theory Placement Examination prior to enrolling in Structure and Style or Counterpoint.

Auditions & Scholarships

All students wishing to major, minor, dual enroll, or take applied music lessons at the Dr. Grier Williams School of Music must complete an audition. Scholarship opportunities are available for students admitted into the school's music programs. Scholarship consideration preference will be given in order of completed applications received.
