The Global Master in Data Science and Business Analytics at Rome Business School prepares students for in-demand roles by blending scientific concepts, data science technologies, and business skills. Degree Overview:
The Global Master in Data Science and Business Analytics is a multidisciplinary program blending scientific concepts and methodologies. It utilizes the latest data science technologies (Jupyter, Apache Hadoop, MonoDB, Tableau, MS Power BI, and more). The program aims to equip students with skills in data management, extracting valuable business insights, and making data-driven decisions. It also focuses on developing effective presentation and communication skills, agile project management, and risk management decision-making skills to cultivate data-driven leadership. The program is built on four pillars: a true link with companies (through a Business Practice LAB, company visits, in-class exercises, and exclusive lecturers), internationality (an international faculty, diverse student body, and international bootcamps), professional impact (structured Career Services, company meetings, shadowing, coaching, and soft skills programs), and higher purpose (training responsible and innovative leaders to drive societal change). The Master is accredited by DASCA (Data Science Council of America), enhancing employability.
Outline:
The program is structured around a percentage-based curriculum: 5% Managerial Core, 35% Focusing and Specialization, 10% Innovative and Responsible Leadership, 10% Electives, 15% Business in Action, 5% Global Trends Lab, and 20% Capstone Project. The program is divided into modules:
- Module 1: Strategic Thinking and Planning in Data Science: This module covers Managerial Economics, Entrepreneurship and Business Planning, Business Strategy, Accounting & Budgeting, Project & Operations Management, Marketing (Traditional and Digital), Human Resource Management, and Data Analytics for Managers.
Electives:
Electives are offered in seven main areas of interest: Next Gen Business (Innovation, AI, and Digital Growth), AI4 Business, Tech & Digitalization, Industry Business Excellence, International Business, Global Electives with RBS international partner Business Schools, and Introduction to preparation for professional certifications (DASCA).
Practice Labs:
The program includes a Practice Lab in partnership with Tableau, focusing on hands-on data preparation, visualization, and analysis using Tableau Prep Builder and Tableau Desktop. A "Business in Action - Hands-on Lab" (Global Trends Lab) consists of two virtual sessions exploring global trends and their impact on businesses. Students also participate in a 36-hour Hackathon using real-world datasets and MongoDB.
Teaching:
The teaching faculty comprises highly selected international university professors, trainers, and business managers from various fields. The teaching approach emphasizes practical know-how and skills transfer for professional development. The Career Services team provides support in career development, connecting students with companies and recruiters. Entrepreneurial pathways are also offered for students interested in starting their own businesses.
