Program Overview
This program prepares students to become Personal Support Workers (PSWs), providing supportive care to individuals facing physical, cognitive, emotional, and behavioral challenges. PSWs work under the guidance of healthcare professionals and can find employment in various settings, including hospitals, long-term care facilities, and community agencies.

Careers:
Personal support workers provide supportive care to clients who are experiencing physical, cognitive, emotional and behavioural challenges. PSWs work under the direction of both the client and regulated health care professionals such as registered nurses and registered practical nurses. Opportunities working in hospitals, long-term care facilities, retirement homes, community agencies providing support in the client’s home and self-employment.
Entry Requirements
Required academic preparation OSSD/OSSGD or equivalent with courses at the general, advanced, (C), (U) or (M) level, AND Grade 12 English (C) level or equivalent OR Mature applicant
Additional requirements
Standard First Aid, Level “C” CPR certification. Clear, current Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check. Written documentation of immunization against certain communicable diseases is required prior to clinical placement.
