Program Overview

The Certificate of Graduate Study (COGS) in Editing and Publishing for Writing helps aspiring writers prepare to edit and publish their own work for consumption. Students will acquire a necessary understanding of contemporary editing and publishing procedures in a variety of print and digital environments as well as the discipline and organizational strategies necessary to prepare and submit a variety of types of work for publication. The courses completed for this certificate may be able to be applied to the required coursework in Rowan's Master of Arts (MA) in Writing.


Curriculum

The Certificate of Graduate Study (COGS) in Editing and Publishing for Writing is a part-time program that requires the completion of 9 graduate semester hours (3 courses) which are possible to complete in 3 to 4 consecutive semesters.

    • Topic: Describe the kind of writing you see yourself doing in your professional life or how you might use this program to advance your teaching career. Educational goals beyond the master's level, if applicable, are also relevant. Try to place your objectives within a context that includes your past experience. Especially given that this is a writing program, use the statement as an opportunity to demonstrate your writing skills
