The Communication Studies Associate in Arts for Transfer (AA-T) degree is designed to provide students with a solid foundation in communication principles and prepare them for a seamless transition to a baccalaureate program in Communication or Speech Communication at any CSU campus.
Objectives:
This degree aims to provide students with foundational knowledge and skills in:
- Analyzing and critically evaluating communication practices, messages, and outcomes in various contexts (e.g., interpersonal, intercultural, small group, public and professional communication, and mass media).
- Developing effective communication strategies and demonstrating these strategies in oral, written, and/or presentation contexts.
- Reading, evaluating, and reporting on communication research.
- Recognizing and articulating the benefits and challenges of diverse communicative practices in a global/multicultural society.
- Demonstrating an understanding of the ethical dimensions of communication.
