Program Overview

This Master's program in Health Education provides a comprehensive foundation in health education theory, methods, and research. Students complete a core curriculum of 30 hours, including courses in health education methods, program planning, and measurement. They also choose an elective course and complete a capstone project, internship, or thesis. The program prepares graduates for careers in health education, health promotion, and related fields.

• HLED 562 Health Education Program Planning (3 hrs)
• HLED 564 Health Education for Diverse Populations (3 hrs)
• HLED 570 Measurement in Health Education (3 hrs)
• HLED 575 Implementation and Administration of Health Education Programs (3 hrs)
• HLED 695 Seminar in Health Education (3 hrs)
• HPHP 505 Basic Statistics in Health Promotion and Human Performance (3 hrs)
• HPHP 677 Research, Theory and Design in Health Promotion and Human Performance (3 hrs)

Elective Course (3 hours):

Students will choose one additional course (3 hrs, 500-level and above) in consultation with a graduate advisor.

Capstone (3 hours):

Choose one course from the following:

• Option #1 - Internship
• HLED 686 Internship in Community Health Education (3 hrs)
• Option #2 - Project
• HLED 690 Project in Health Education (3 hrs)
• Option #3 - Thesis
• A candidate completes an original research project under the supervision of a (thesis) committee.
This research must be written in a form acceptable to the Graduate School and defended in an oral examination.
