Program Overview

The School Counselor Licensure Post-Master's Certificate program at Eastern Michigan University prepares individuals with a master's in counseling to become licensed school counselors. The 14-30 credit hour program provides competencies for entry-level positions in elementary, middle/junior high, and high school settings. Upon completion, graduates are eligible for a K-12 school counselor license from the Michigan Department of Education. School counselors provide counseling services, academic planning, and career counseling to students, and collaborate with parents and teachers to support students' development.
