Program Overview
The Master of Science in Hospitality, Entrepreneurship and Innovation is a 1.5-year program that teaches the A-to-Z of entrepreneurship. It is designed for career-switchers, aspiring or current entrepreneurs, as well as professionals who own a family business.
Program Structure
The program consists of two semesters of intensive academic study, followed by an Innovation Week, a business field trip, and a choice between a Business Research Project or a professional internship.
Academic Content
- Two semesters of intensive academic study take you on a journey of innovation and entrepreneurship, from idea to business model and then to market.
- You will be taught how to scale a business, how to secure funding, and how to market your product or service in this digital age.
- Your curriculum also includes the opportunity to collaborate with your fellow students to organize an Innovation Fair.
Innovation Week
- With the support of the Program Director, you will join your fellow students in the Innovation Week.
- The Innovation Week is an intense experiential learning that allows students to create novel ideas to a well-defined client problem in a short timeframe.
- Students need to think outside the box and apply the Design Thinking methodology to define, test, prototype, and finally pitch a customer-centric innovation to the client.
Business Field Trip
- You can put entrepreneurship theory into practice during your field trip.
- You will have the opportunity to put theory into practice on a business field trip. During this immersive, specially-curated trip, you will meet innovative companies, strengthen your professional network, and enjoy exciting life experiences.

Admission Information

- Age Requirements: 21 years at the start of the program.
- Education: Bachelor-level undergraduate degree in a relevant field (business or hospitality preferred).
- Minimum English Language Entry Requirements:
- IELTS: overall 6.0 and min. 5.5 in every sub-component
- TOEFL: Internet-based 80 or paper-based 550
- First Cambridge Exam: Grade A
- Cambridge Advanced Exam: Grade C

- Dr. Tiia Mäkinen
- Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Research
- Tiia brings a unique blend of entrepreneurial and managerial expertise, acquired throughout a career in which she has occupied senior positions within the global financial industry, notably at UBS and Credit Suisse.
- She co-founded a fintech startup in Zurich and established the experience design consultancy Musta Experience.
- Since 2015, she has been visiting lecturer in various Swiss and international universities.
- At Glion, she has guest lectured since early 2023 and was appointed Professor and Program Director for the Master’s in Hospitality, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, as well as Head of Research.
- Tiia holds a Master’s in Economics (International Management) from the University of Vaasa, Finland, and a Doctorate in Economics (Marketing) from the University of Zürich, Switzerland.
