HLT33115 – Certificate III in Health Services Assistance

This qualification covers workers in a range of work roles who provide assistance to health professional staff with the care of clients. Health Services Assistance involves the worker in direct client contact under supervision. This qualification has been structured with elective groups for specific work functions in assisting in nursing work in acute care. In addition, the qualification supports the multiskilling requirements of smaller and rural/remote work settings. This qualification is also suited to Australian Apprenticeship pathways. (Domestic and International)

Assessment:

Our approach is to collect evidence on whether the student can perform to the standards of the workplace. This is based on the relevant unit of competency, and you’ll find these tools being used:

  • Knowledge Based Assessments (KBA)
  • Simulation Based Assessments (SBA)
  • Professional Experience Placement (PEP)

Teaching:

The course is provided through teacher led classroom mode delivery. It will be delivered and assessed over 660 hours which will include theory (20 contact hours per week), self-paced structured learning as per the session plan, simulation training and assessment and 80 hours of work-based training / professional experience placement (PEP).


Careers:

This qualification provides a pathway to employment in a range of health care settings, including hospitals, aged care facilities, and community health centres. Graduates may work as health services assistants, nursing assistants, or personal care attendants.
