SPSY184 introduces students to the Canadian criminal justice system, focusing on the treatment of youth in conflict with the law. It explores the history of juvenile justice, the impact of custodial placement on youth, and the roles of professionals working with youth offenders. The course also examines sentencing, correctional placement, parole, and conditional release for both youth and adult offenders.
