Program Overview


This program prepares students for careers in Human Resources and Training and Development. Graduates are eligible to waive the National Knowledge Exam for the Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation and receive credit towards the Certified Training and Development Professional certification from the Institute for Performance and Learning (I4PL).

Program Outline

Careers:

  • Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation - a national standard for HR professionals, requires demonstrated competency and relevant experience in the HR field
  • Graduates with a 70% cumulative average are eligible to waive the National Knowledge Exam (NKE).
  • Graduates have 5 years to apply for designation by meeting experience requirements, completing forms and fees and maintaining membership.
  • Institute for Performance and Learning (I4PL) - offers certification for those working in training and development.
  • Graduates receive credit for 1 year of experience towards I4PL's Certified Training and Development Professional certification.
  • Graduates must have a total of 3 years of relevant work experience and complete a prequalification process to begin the Candidacy period for certification.
  • Within the Candidacy period, graduates have 12 months to pass the CTDP exam and complete a skills demonstration to earn the certification.

Admission Requirements

Entry Requirements:

  • An undergraduate diploma or degree, preferably in the Humanities, Social Sciences, Business or Education (includes MITT’s Post-Graduate Certificate in Business Management*) from an accredited institution, with good academic standing.
  • A minimum of 2 years of full-time relevant undergraduate level coursework from an accredited institution may also be considered.
  • Demonstrated English Language Proficiency (if educated outside Canada)
  • Current résumé or CV

Preferred Admission Criteria (There may be a competitive admissions process for entry to this program; meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission)

  • Minimum 2 years of prior relevant work experience as demonstrated on resumé or CV.
  • The Business Management certificate can be used as a prerequisite for admission to MITT Post-Graduate Diploma programs.
  • Students that complete this 12-month program will receive advanced standing for the first term of a diploma. That means you will already have the credits for the first four courses, and will earn a one-term scheduled academic break before continuing your studies.
