Audio Engineering Production AAAS
Summary
Prepare for a career in the growing fields of audio engineering and music recording. Study music theory, audio recording, digital and analog audio technology and multimedia applications for employment as an audio engineer, sound designer, recording engineer and more.
What You’ll Learn
- Create audio recordings that demonstrate knowledge of audio production required to produce commercially viable audio recordings
- Create audio recordings that demonstrate skill in the production of narrative audio, radio commercials as well as educational and instructional industrial products
- Create and edit audio for existing video and film
- Produce a musical piece demonstrating knowledge of MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) technology and digital audio technology through quantization and editing
- Apply the basic principles of music theory in audio productions
Program Description
The Audio Engineering Production Associate in Applied Arts and Sciences degree is designed to prepare students for careers in linear and non-linear audio applications. Shoreline Community College works closely with local advisory committees and industry professionals to ensure students receive the knowledge and skills currently in demand by employers in the field. Students interested in pursuing a four-year baccalaureate degree in Music should follow the Music Pre-Major, AA-DTA Planning Guide. Some schools accept credits from this program toward a more advanced degree.
AAAS Degree (90 Credits)
GPA of 2.0 or better for the entire program required.
Program Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites to start this program. To graduate with a degree, the general education requirements include successful completion of ENGL& 101 and MUSTC 106. The prerequisite for ENGL& 101 is the completion of ENGL 99 or equivalent with a 2.0 or better, or placement into ENGL& 101. The prerequisite for MUSTC 106 is the completion of MATH 98 (2.0 or better) or placement into MATH 99 or instructor permission.
