Doctor of Optometry Program

Program Overview

This four-year optometry program provides a comprehensive education in basic biological sciences, ocular physiology, and clinical medicine. Students gain hands-on experience through rotations at NSU Health Eye Care and externships, preparing them for careers as optometrists, O.D.s, M.D.s, or in corporate settings.

• Theoretical optics and optometric examinations
• Second Year:
• Ocular physiology, psychophysics, ocular disease, and binocular vision anomalies

• Third Year:
• Patient care, ocular disease, contact lenses, clinical medicine
• Practice management concepts
• Fourth Year:
• Secondary-tertiary eye care, specialized optometric care, clinical education
