Degree Overview:


The Master of Arts in Economics and Master of Science in Mathematical Sciences Dual Degree

program combines economic reasoning with mathematical methods. It prepares students for careers that require analytical skills and mathematical methods and for pursuing a Ph.D. in economics with substantial quantitative skills or a Ph.D. in mathematics with economic applications. The MA – Economics portion of the dual degree program advances students' knowledge in macro- and micro-economic theory and provides them with econometrics and communication skills. The MS – Mathematical Sciences portion of the dual degree is designed to equip graduate students with a solid foundation in mathematics, statistics, and real-world applications.


Objectives:

  • Equip students with a solid foundation in mathematics, statistics, and real-world applications.

Program Description:

The dual degree program requires a minimum of 51 credits of graduate work, including at least 21 credits of course work in mathematics and at least 21 credits of course work in economics. Students must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.00 in the graduate course work that is part of the degree program.

Complete 3 credits of ECO electives at the 600- or 700-level.
