Delta Module 1

Program Overview

The Delta Module One preparation course provides a comprehensive foundation for English language teaching. Delivered online, it covers theoretical underpinnings, language systems, methodology, and contemporary issues in ELT. Assessment includes an exam with two 90-minute papers focusing on language awareness and methodology. The course combines flexibility, collaboration, and tutor support to enhance knowledge and prepare students for a range of careers in ELT.

• Delta Module One preparation course is designed to provide a firm theoretical foundation for English language classroom teaching in various contexts.
• The online content is divided into ten sections.
Each section consists of content and exam preparation components.
• The content is delivered in the form of interactive lessons, quizzes, questionnaires and peer discussion forums, with links to useful articles, books and outside sources.
• The topics develop logically, starting with the theoretical underpinnings of the profession, working through language systems, skills, methodology and analysis, finishing with contemporary issues in ELT.
• The exam focus sections develop exam technique so that by the time of the exam, students are well acquainted with each exam task and its requirements.

Assessment:

• Delta Module 1 is evaluated via an exam, consisting of two 90-minute papers.
• Paper one is concerned with language awareness and knowledge about the systems of English (grammar, vocabulary, phonology and discourse), all within a strongly pragmatic framework.
• Paper two focuses more on methodology.

Teaching:

• The online course closely follows the seven core areas from Delta Module One taken from Cambridge’s syllabus page.
• Students will receive feedback on a full mock test so that by the time they take the exam they will have done each task on each paper a minimum of four times, with plenty of additional self-study material available.
• The TH Blended Delta Module 1 preparation course combines flexibility, collaboration, self-study and tutor support to enhance knowledge of the ELT profession.
