Nursing Education Certificate Program

The Nursing Education Certificate Program is designed to provide advanced skills for practice as a Nurse Educator and to prepare students to sit for the NLN Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) Exam.

Program Objectives

The program objectives include:

• Utilizing nursing and education research to create teaching strategies designed to support nursing education in a dynamic learning environment.
• Exhibiting leadership skills as a significant figure in the interdisciplinary health care team for the improvement of nursing education.
• Analyzing legal, ethical, and regulatory issues impacting health care delivery systems and education systems for the improvement of nursing education.
• Engaging in scholarship activities within the nurse educator role.

Target Audience

The program is suitable for:

• Post-master's nurses with clinical expertise who are seeking educational training
• Master's students within any other track of Walsh's Master's Nursing program
• Nurses who are DNP or PhD graduates or students who wish to gain expertise as a nurse educator

Admission Policy

Participants must comply with The Byers School of Nursing Graduate admission requirements, which include:

• Minimum 3.0 GPA from an accredited undergraduate institution
• Official transcript(s) of undergraduate and all other graduate study, indicating a MSN degree from an accredited school of nursing
• Current resume
• Two Letters of Recommendation from individuals in a Supervisor role of the applicant
• A 1000-word essay that addresses academic and career goals, personal and professional attributes, and how the Post-Master's Nurse Educator Certificate will help realize those goals
• A current unencumbered Registered Nurse license

Program Delivery

The program is offered using a distance learning methodology, with face-to-face classroom experiences held at the main campus in conjunction with online methods.
