The Spanish Language and Culture Fundamentals Microcredential equips individuals with essential Spanish language and cultural knowledge for short-term international experiences. Through two required courses, learners develop a foundation in Spanish grammar, vocabulary, and cultural norms, enabling them to navigate professional and travel situations confidently. The Spanish Language and Culture Fundamentals (SLCF) Microcredential is a fast and cost-effective way for business people, students, and other travelers to receive a high-quality language training credential that will support successful international and intercultural transitions and other short-term expat experiences. This Microcredential program builds learners' capacity for short-term work, study abroad, and internships overseas. The curriculum is tightly focused on developing the essentials these travelers will need to be confident and competent in the common interactions encountered on short-term sojourns.

Required Courses:
- SLCF 1150: Spanish Language and Culture – Working Foundations (1.5 credits)
- Introduces students to Spanish grammar and pronunciation and builds awareness of informal and formal exchanges relevant to the Spanish culture.
- Presents the learners with the foundations to develop a Spanish vocabulary as well as useful expressions for working and traveling.
- SLCF 1155: Spanish Language and Culture – Practical Exchanges (1.5 credits)
- Builds on the Level 1 Spanish Language and Culture – Working Foundations course by building on more advanced Spanish vocabulary.
- Extends students' ability to express themselves while working and traveling in a Spanish-speaking environment.
- Supports the learner's knowledge of conjugating the present tense of regular ar, er, and ir verbs.
- Helps students learn about cultural differences in professional and travel settings.

Assessment:
- Two courses must be taken in order.
- The minimum passing grade for each course is 50%.
