Program Overview
This program provides a comprehensive foundation in human resources management, payroll, and accounting. Students will gain knowledge in employment law, payroll compliance, and HR fundamentals. Electives allow for specialization in areas such as business information systems, computerized accounting, workplace health and safety, or recruitment and selection. Graduates are prepared for careers in various HR and payroll roles.

Required Courses:
- BLAW 3905: Employment Law: Explores common law legal principles and statutory regimes governing employee-employer relationships in Canada, with emphasis on individual employment law and comparisons to unionized activity.
- FMGT 1100: Accounting 1: Covers the full accounting cycle for individuals with little or no accounting background, including accounting as an information system, accounting theory, income measure, traditional record keeping, the accounting cycle, cash, and financial statements.
- FMGT 4915: Payroll Essentials: Provides students with the knowledge and skills to fulfill payroll compliance responsibilities, apply payroll legislation, and calculate individual pay, including regular and non-regular situations. Graduates will be able to calculate and report government and third party remittances, meet year-end requirements, and account for payroll at the compliance level.
- HRMG 3105: Human Resource Management Fundamentals: Covers theory, practice, and standard programs employed by HR professionals in private sector businesses, government, and other organizations. Focuses on major HR management functions with emphasis on applied knowledge.

- BSYS 1001: Business Information Systems 1-Microsoft 365 for Windows: Provides a deep understanding of computer terminology, operating systems, and popular software applications used in business. Discusses technology issues and challenges in the business environment.
- FMGT 2711: Computerized Accounting: Introduces students to the Windows operating system, computer-based financial information systems, and comprehensive accounting and record keeping for small businesses.
- HRMG 2805: Workplace Health & Safety: A practical course for those responsible for safety and health in organizational settings, including managers, supervisors, shop stewards, safety committee members, and members of the labour relations or human resources department.
- HRMG 3305: Recruitment and Selection: Focuses on designing and implementing effective recruitment and selection processes and on critiquing and improving existing processes. Also addresses the specific skills to conduct selection interviewing.
