Program Overview
The 3D Modeling, Art and Animation diploma program at BCIT equips students with the skills to enter the game, film, and television industries as 3D Artists. Through hands-on experience in the entire 3D workflow, students are trained by industry professionals using the latest methods and techniques. The program culminates in the production of a marketable demo reel to secure employment in the chosen career path. Graduates are prepared for a variety of 3D-related jobs, including Prop Artist, Animator, and Character Artist.

Assessment:
The minimum passing grade for each course is 60%. Students must pass all courses in a given term before proceeding to the next term.
Teaching:
The program is taught by industry professionals who provide current and first-hand knowledge in their areas of expertise. The material covered in the classroom directly relates to work that students will be performing in their future careers. This hands-on training with industry-level tools and resources provides an accurate representation of what work in a studio is like. Courses are reviewed frequently to ensure new tools and programs are implemented into the curriculum.
Careers:
Graduates of the 3D Modeling, Art and Animation program are prepared to enter a variety of 3D-related jobs, including Prop Artist, Animator, Character Artist, Environment Artist, Texture and Shading Artist, Look Development Artist, Lighting Artist, Layout Artist, Junior Rigger, Compositor, and Render Artist.
Entry Requirements:
English: two years of education in English in an English-speaking country with one of the following: English Studies 12 (67%) or English First Peoples 12 (67%) or Acceptable equivalent high school course or 0 credits of post-secondary English, humanities or social sciences (67%) from a recognized institution If you do not meet these English requirements: Complete the following form for submission with your online application: Mandatory Applicant Questionnaire [PDF] This form will be used with other entrance requirements in the selection for this program. Submit a portfolio of your creative artwork with your online application: A portfolio or link to your portfolio must be submitted at the time you apply for the program. Your application will not be processed until all required documents are submitted, so ensure your portfolio is ready before you start your application. ArtStation.com is a free site that you can use to host your portfolio if it is too large. If using Art Station, submit a document with a link to your portfolio page. The portfolio should contain no more than 5-7 pieces of your best artwork which can include 3D rendering, graphic design, drawings, paintings, photography, or videos of animation or dance and acting performances.
