The House Inspection program at BCIT comprises six courses that provide students with the knowledge and skills required for house inspection. The courses cover various aspects of building inspection, including roofing, flashing, chimneys, the exterior system, the structural system, the electrical system, the heating and cooling systems, the insulation and venting systems, the plumbing system, and the interior system. Students must successfully complete all six courses to obtain a statement of completion in the House Inspection program. The recommended course sequence is as follows:
- First term: BLDG 2915 and BLDG 2925
Careers:
Graduates of the House Inspection program can pursue careers as house inspectors, property inspectors, or in other related fields. The program meets the academic requirements of Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC (ASTTBC) for their Certified House Inspector (CHI) and Certified Property Inspector (CPI) designations.
