Gasfitter - Class B, Apprenticeship, Full-time
Program Overview
This two-level program trains apprentices in the design, installation, and maintenance of gas lines, appliances, and equipment. It covers various fuels and equipment types, with a focus on applied learning and practical exercises. Upon completion, apprentices may qualify for a Diploma of Trades Training or a Certificate of Apprenticeship, leading to a career as a Gasfitter – Class B.

Program Content:
- Design, installation, testing, adjustment, maintenance, and repair of lines, appliances, equipment, and accessories in various sectors.
- Fuels include natural gas, manufactured gas, liquefied petroleum gas, digester gas, landfill gas, biogas, or a mixture of dilution of any of these gases and Hydrogen.
- Appliances and equipment include those that do not exceed 400 000 Btuh (British Thermal Units per hour) of 120kW (kilowatts) such as boilers, burners, makeup air units, furnaces, process burners, and various other gas-fired equipment.
Program Structure:
- 2 levels that cover the in-school technical portion of the apprenticeship training.
- All levels of training use applied learning in conjunction with practical exercises.

- Level 1 (10 weeks): AGSF 1GAP Gasfitter - Class B Apprentice Level 1 Final Grade - Harmonized Trade

You must be an active apprentice registered with SkilledTradesBC to register for apprenticeship training at BCIT.
Recommended for success:
- High school graduation or equivalent, including:
- English 12 or English language proficiency
- Applications of Math 11 or Principles of Math 11
- Physics 11 Due to the high level of skill required in math and physics for the Gasfitter B program, industry and instructors strongly advise apprentices to upgrade their math and physics skills prior to registration for technical training in this program.
