Program Overview

The Diesel Engine Mechanic apprenticeship program combines on-the-job training with in-school instruction at BCIT. Trainees complete two levels of technical training (540 hours) and register in Level 1 and 2 Heavy Mechanical Trades at BCIT. They also accumulate 3,000 hours of work-based training. Upon passing the interprovincial exam, apprentices receive a SkilledTradesBC Certificate of Qualification and a Certificate of Apprenticeship (BC).
