Program Overview


Sheridan's Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences – Kinesiology and Health Promotion program combines science, technology, and practical experience to prepare students for careers in health and performance. With a focus on health promotion, graduates are equipped to lead public health campaigns and wellness initiatives. The program features field placements, co-op experiences, and opportunities to pursue certifications, ensuring students are ready for the workforce.

Degree Overview:

Harness the power of human movement to improve health and performance. Program Overview: A multidisciplinary approach to kinesiology Learn how the science of human movement relates to all aspects of health and performance. You'll study exercise science, physiology, biomechanics, nutrition and more — all in small classes with professors who know your name. This is also the only kinesiology degree in Ontario with a focus on health promotion, giving you the skills to lead public health campaigns and wellness initiatives. Applied learning supported by cutting-edge technology Apply your learning using the latest technologies and equipment! Sheridan is the first postsecondary institution in Canada to embed HoloAnatomy mixed reality software in its kinesiology programming, supporting you in challenging courses such as anatomy and physiology. Other state-of-the-art spaces you'll work in include our Athletic Therapy Centre, Exercise Intervention Centre and VO2 Max Lab. Pursue sought-after certifications Within this program, you’ll have opportunities to pursue your Certified Personal Trainer and Clinical Exercise Physiologist certifications. When you graduate, you'll meet the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario (COKO) core competency requirements to become a Regulated Health Professional. You'll also qualify for post-graduate training at colleges and universities across North America. Field placement and co-op experiences Sheridan's Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences – Kinesiology and Health Promotion degree features more than 600 hours of field placements, allowing you to further develop your skills in a variety of workplace settings and allied health professions. Preparation for specialized graduate programs The knowledge, skills and hands-on experience you gain in Sheridan's Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences – Kinesiology and Health Promotion degree will prepare you for further studies in a variety of disciplines and specialties. Recent graduates of this program have pursued further education in areas such as: Physiotherapy Chiropractic college Respiratory therapy Occupational therapy Public health Rehabilitation sciences Clinical exercise physiology Teacher's college Learn skills needed to run your own business Owning, operating and managing a business is complex. This program includes courses that provide you with a complete understanding of the many factors involved in starting a company, managing people and working within a corporate culture. Those courses will also prepare you for employment in businesses of all sizes and position you to take on leadership roles.
