Bachelor of Commerce
The Bachelor of Commerce (B.Comm.) program is ideal for students seeking flexibility. It allows students to develop the expertise required for a career in business while customizing the pace and location of their studies.
Program Information

- The program consists of 40 courses (120 credit hours)
- Part-time and full-time study options are available
- Courses may be taken on campus, online, or through a combination of both
- A common first year (Business One) is required for all undergraduates
- Mandatory professional development seminars are included
- Experiential learning opportunities and study abroad options are available
Mandatory Professional Development
Students are required to complete three non-credit, professional development seminars. These seminars, delivered in partnership with the Gardiner Centre, complement academic programming and help prepare students to succeed in the workforce. Areas of learning include career development, job search, professionalism, and individual skill development.
Admission Requirements - Entry to Business One
Applications are considered on a rolling basis. The application deadlines are:
- Fall (September) semester: March 1
- Winter (January) semester: October 1
- Spring (May) semester: February 1
New Memorial Students
Direct entry into the faculty from high school is subject to meeting the general admission requirements for Memorial University and admissibility into Mathematics 1000, 1005, 1090, or 109 A/B.
Current Memorial Students
Current Memorial University students should declare Business One by contacting the Office of the Registrar.
Transfer Students
Transfer applicants can select Business One when applying for admission. To apply, indicate the Faculty of Business Administration as the faculty and Business One as the program of study.
Your First Year - Business One
A sample schedule of 10 courses that may be taken in Business One includes:
- Math 1090, 1000, or 1005
- Economics 1010
- English course
- Business 1000
- Non-business electives
Students should meet with an academic advisor to create a plan that aligns with their specific needs and goals.
Admission Requirements - Entry to B.Comm.
The application deadlines are:
- Fall (September) semester: May 15
- Winter (January) semester: November 1
- Spring (May) semester: March 1
To be eligible for admission to the B.Comm. program, students must complete the following 10 courses (30 credit hours) with an overall average of at least 65%:
- BUSI 1000: Introduction to Business in Society
- ECON 1010: Introduction to Microeconomics
- ECON 1020: Introduction to Macroeconomics
- MATH 1000: Calculus I or MATH 1005: Calculus for Business
- Six credit hours in English
- 12 additional credit hours in non-business electives
Admission into the B.Comm. program is competitive and limited.
