Introduction to the Master of Applied Literary Arts Program
The Master of Applied Literary Arts is a unique program that combines academic studies with professional skills training in a flexible and experiential manner. This program is designed to prepare graduates for a wide range of arts-based professions, contributing to the creative economy and enriching local communities.
Program Description
The MALA program offers internship, research paper, and thesis options, with one to two year durations. The research paper option involves courses, an internship, and a major research paper, and can be completed in one year of full-time study or two years of part-time study. The thesis option involves courses, an internship, and a thesis, and can be completed in two years of full-time study.
Minimum Admission Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Literature or related area from a recognized institution, with a minimum CGPA of 3.0
- Six undergraduate courses in English
- Minimum TOEFL scores: 580 for the paper-based test, 237 on the computer-based test, or 92 on the Internet-based test
- Minimum IELTS score: an overall band score of 7.0
- Minimum MUNTEL score: an overall band score of 70
- One seat per year will be reserved for a student with Indigenous ancestry who meets the minimum criteria for admission
- A bursary will be available for an Indigenous student to study full-time for the MALA
