The Pattern Making and Assembling Technique course at The Cut Fashion Academy is a 14-week intensive program designed to provide students with industry-level proficiency in pattern making, fit, and sewing construction. The program outline includes:

  • Introduction to Pattern Making: Learn flat pattern-making methods and concepts; draft basic pattern blocks; create dart manipulations; understand components of a garment; pattern marking, labeling, and sequence.
  • Fit and Measurement: Learn how to take personal measurements; go through a garment fitting, understanding principles and assessing fit; learn how to measure a mannequin; correct fit and adjust patterns.
  • Garment Assembly and Textiles: Learn how to use equipment, maintenance, and safety; practice sewing techniques; construct garments; learn how to identify fabrics and weaves; understand fabric characteristics, grain, and weight; learn how to insert fusing.

The program is taught by experienced professionals with a combined 20+ years of experience in the fashion industry, including Frederick Fung and Madison Prangnell. The small class size allows for personalized attention and guidance from instructors.
