This comprehensive program provides an in-depth understanding of the fashion industry, from design and construction to sourcing and production. Through hands-on experience and expert instruction, students develop the skills necessary for careers in design, production, and other fashion-related fields. The program culminates in the creation of four manufactured garments, showcasing students' mastery of the industry's processes.

  • Introduction to building a spec sheet
  • Use of software to produce industry-standard technical documents
  • Understanding how to prepare technical specification packages

  • Overview/review of different seam constructions
  • Identifying construction details in a spec sheet
  • Overview of trim items often found in apparel products
  • Defining BOMs (Bill of Materials)
  • Building a BOM, estimating yields, minimum orders, etc.
  • Understanding and preparing a production plan/calendar
  • Identifying fabric and trim lead times with suppliers
  • Understanding lab dips; color matching, and DTM (Dye to Match) trims

  • Understanding the role of sourcing and determining best methods of use
