BHS Ride Safe

Overview

The Ride Safe Silver Challenge Award is required to be completed as part of the BHS Stage 1 Ride. This course is accredited by The British Horse Society.


Full Description

The course offers foundation knowledge and skills in preparation for the BHS Ride Safe examination.


The Silver Challenge Ride Safe Award covers:


  • Checks to make before setting off
  • How to ride with the reins in one hand
  • How to ride in an enclosed arena with other riders
  • Riding out on a road
  • How to ask other road users to slow down or stop

Who Should Attend?

Our course is designed for people over 16 who need to prepare for their BHS Ride Safe silver award examination.

The cost is inclusive of the Ride Safe Silver pack.


Your BHS Ride Safe examination is not included in the cost. Your assessment fee is paid directly to the Equine Yard.


Entry Requirements

You must be over 16 to join this course; parental consent will be required.


In line with BHS training centre standards and due to the nature of our horses, we ask that students weigh no more than 13 stone (82.5kg) which includes your PPE (personal protective equipment).


You must be able to walk, trot and canter.


Please come appropriately dressed for an equine yard. You are required to attend all riding sessions dressed in appropriate outdoor riding wear, an approved riding hat and gloves.


You are advised to bring note-taking equipment.


By making a booking you are declaring yourself medically fit to participate in the course.
