Sheep Husbandry – An Introduction
Overview
Join our introductory course if you are considering or have just started keeping sheep. It's a combination of lectures and practical sessions held one evening a week for six weeks.
Full Description
You'll learn:
- Sheep breeds
- The British sheep industry and the annual production cycle
- Basic sheep behaviour and handling
- Lambing and lamb tasks
- Care of the pregnant and lactating ewe
- Basic sheep health care (including worming, vaccinations, foot trimming and body condition scoring)
- Basic sheep nutrition
- Signs of ill health and disease
- Animal welfare and legislation
When you complete this course we will issue you a certificate of attendance.

This course is suitable for anyone considering or who has just started keeping sheep.
