Transport of Animals by Road (Short Journeys) (City & Guilds) Level 2 Award
Overview
This half-day Level 2 course is NPTC City & Guilds accredited and covers the transportation of animals and/or birds on short road journeys over 65km, up to and including eight hours long.

The course covers the following topics:
- Legal requirements and responsibilities
- Responsibilities when transporting animals
- Planning a long journey by road
- Suitability of the vehicle
- Checking animals and fitness to travel
- Causes and signs of stress in animals
- Space allowances, stocking densities and segregation requirements
- Handling and animal welfare in transit
- Post journey requirements
The two-hour training course is followed by a one-hour NPTC online multiple-choice test (27 questions). Candidates must successfully achieve a pass mark of 21/27.
