Program Overview


Fundamentals of Creating an eCommerce Site

Overview

This 21 hour course is for the student who wishes to create an ecommerce site but has no prior experience in doing so. Using Shopify's ecommerce platform, students engage in a step-by-step simulation that will result in a ready-to-go live virtual storefront. Students will be able to operate their own ecommerce site whenever they are ready to launch it. The learning process will include reading some contextual/theoretical background and engaging in self-scoring quizzes prior to spending most of course time constructing then simulating and operation of a Shopify-based ecommerce website in achieving the following course learning requirements:


  • Articulate the functionality differences between an ecommerce site versus an online business.
  • Articulate the benefits of using a developed ecommerce platform for an ecommerce site.
  • Create a working model of an ecommerce shop capable of being launch live.

Admission Requirements

You may enroll in a Continuing Education course at Canadore College if you are 19 years of age or older or if you have earned an Ontario Secondary School Diploma/Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma or equivalent.
