Program Overview

The Reading Specialist Certificate for PDE is a 24-credit program that prepares individuals for K-12 Reading Specialist Certification. The program offers a comprehensive curriculum in reading theories, literacy assessment, and intervention, with practical experience through placements in the Duquesne University Reading Clinic. Graduates are eligible for certification upon completion and passing the Praxis exam, opening up career paths in reading education, including Reading Specialist, Literacy Coach, and Special Education Teacher.
