Program Description:

The A.A.S. in Radiologic Technology program is a two-year, full-time program that consists of both didactic and clinical instruction. Students will take courses in anatomy, physiology, radiographic positioning, radiation protection, and patient care. They will also complete clinical rotations at various hospitals and clinics in the New York City area.

  • Routine radiography: Students will learn the principles and techniques of performing routine x-rays, including positioning patients, selecting appropriate exposure factors, and processing and evaluating images.
  • Trauma radiography: Students will learn the principles and techniques of performing x-rays on trauma patients, including assessing injuries, immobilizing patients, and obtaining diagnostic images.
  • Fluoroscopy: Students will learn the principles and techniques of performing fluoroscopy, which is a real-time x-ray imaging technique that is used to visualize internal organs and structures.
  • Mammography: Students will learn the principles and techniques of performing mammograms, which are x-rays of the breast that are used to screen for breast cancer.
  • Tomography: Students will learn the principles and techniques of performing tomography, which is a type of x-ray imaging that produces cross-sectional images of the body.

Structure:

The A.A.S. in Radiologic Technology program is a lock-step program, which means that students take the same courses in the same order. The program is divided into four semesters, with each semester lasting approximately 15 weeks.
