Introduction to American Politics Course

Program Overview

This course surveys basic institutions and processes of democratic politics. Instruction covers constitutionalism, representation, participation, and leadership, coupled with particular emphasis on the American case. The course also examines the provisions and principles of the U.S. Constitution, American political culture, and democratic participation in the United States. Students debate contemporary political and constitutional issues by applying the principles and theories presented in class and in assigned readings.
