Program Overview


This course provides a study of the major physical and chemical principles that are responsible for the properties and the performance of semiconductor materials. Among topics covered are bonding, carrier statistics, band-gap engineering, characterization, novel material systems, optical properties, and the transport properties of electronic materials. It includes 4 hours of lectures, 1 hour of discussion, and 7 hours of outside homework per week. Students should also complete requisite course 120 prior to taking this course.
