Program Overview
This XR Experience Design I course provides a comprehensive foundation in crafting immersive content. Students explore the origins, types, and functions of immersive realities, including virtual reality. Through research and hands-on projects, they develop a solid understanding of quality immersive experiences and prepare for advanced studies in the field. The course is taught remotely by an experienced professional and includes guest speaker presentations and student project presentations.

This XR Experience Design I course offers a solid foundation in crafting effective and meaningful immersive content. The course covers the origins, trajectories, and current state of immersive experiences, along with an in-depth exploration of different immersive realities (including virtual reality) and their functions and considerations. Students will analyze what constitutes a quality immersive experience and will complete research and hands-on projects to explore concepts in greater depth. By the end of the course, students will have a solid understanding of the basics of crafting quality immersive experiences and will be prepared to take on more advanced studies.
Teaching:
The course is taught by Jacquelyn Morie, an experienced professional in the field of immersive media. The course is delivered in a remote format, with lectures taking place on Mondays from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM PT during the Spring 2024 quarter and on Wednesdays from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM PT during the Summer 2024 quarter. The course schedule includes:
