The course, Playing With Time: Looking Backwards into the Future of Motion Graphics, provides a historical framework and vocabulary for students interested in becoming leaders in the motion graphics industry. Students will explore the formal properties and possibilities of motion design, gain foundational fluency in incorporating motion media into their design practices, and develop a historical framework for understanding and producing time-based moving image work. One of the assignments involves illustrating and rotoscoping a frame from Muybridge's Horse in Motion, which will then be combined to create a collective animation.
